Two years ago, I had an unforgettable sojourn at Ma Campagne Resort while touring all 30 districts of Rwanda. Nestled on the serene shores of Lake Muhazi, the resort offered a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. The experience stayed with me long after I left, becoming one of the standout highlights of my nationwide expedition.
Tucked along the tranquil shores of Lake Muhazi, this lakeside retreat offered far more than just a place to sleep; it became an experience, a sanctuary, and, at times, an adult playground.
From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of indulgent freedom. With full access to the swimming pool, gym, and spa—not to mention a luxury boat and an impressive selection of aquatic vessels—I felt like a kid in a candy store. There was no shortage of options, and I was truly spoiled for choice.
One of the highlights of my stay was cruising the serene waters of Lake Muhazi aboard the resort’s lavish boat. This wasn’t just a ride; it was a seamless blend of first-class comfort and the pure joy of being on the water. Gliding over the lake’s calm surface, I drank in the stunning beauty of the surrounding landscapes—rolling hills, lush greenery, and a horizon that stretched into serenity. It’s hard to imagine a more peaceful way to admire Rwanda’s natural splendor.
If you have been reading my chronicles for a while, you are probably aware of my enduring love for kayaking. For the unacquainted, a kayak is a lightweight canoe-like vessel propelled by a double-bladed paddle. While traditional models feature enclosed decks, inflatable ones are rising in popularity, winning over paddlers with their portability and ease of use.
Kayaking isn't just a passion—it's also a fantastic workout. It boosts cardiovascular fitness and strengthens various muscle groups. So, rather than hitting the gym, I opted for the lake. After all, gyms are everywhere, but kayaking on Lake Muhazi is a rare and rewarding treat.
Then came the jet ski. The moment I straddled the saddle and thumbed the ignition, a surge of adrenaline coursed through me. What followed was an electrifying ride, slicing through the water, leaping over waves, and carving thrilling U-turns that made my heart race. The roar of the engine, the spray of the lake, and the raw power beneath me combined for an unforgettable adventure.
It’s worth noting that “Jet Ski” is actually a brand name—Kawasaki’s take on the Personal Watercraft (PWC). But much like “Colgate” for toothpaste or “Kiwi” for shoe polish, the brand name has become the catch-all term for all similar watercraft. Whatever you choose to call it, the experience is pure exhilaration.
What makes Ma Campagne Resort even more appealing is its location. Just a short drive from Kigali and within easy reach of the international airport, the resort is a convenient escape for city dwellers and travelers alike. Whether you're a solo traveler seeking solace, a couple in search of romance, colleagues planning a retreat, or a family yearning for quality time together, Ma Campagne caters to all. From executive rooms to spacious three-bedroom family units, every corner of the resort is designed with comfort, privacy, and style in mind.
As I pack my bags and get ready to move on, I leave with a full heart and a gallery of memories. Ma Campagne Resort didn’t just give me a place to rest—it gave me stories, sensations, and that unbeatable feeling of being truly alive.
