I am writing this from a lakeside cabin at Good Mood Resort, with Lake Muhazi stretching out quietly in front of me—calm and unbothered.
A few minutes ago, I was on the green.
Yes… golf. Mini golf, to be specific.
Let’s be clear—I am not out here rubbing shoulders with seasoned golfers on some 18-hole championship course. This is a much humbler setup. Smaller course, shorter shots… and in my case, a swing that is still very much under construction.
But honestly? That’s exactly the point.
I came here thinking I would “practice.” Work on my swing. Maybe get a little better before stepping onto bigger courses someday.
But somewhere between the first swing and the view ahead of me, I dropped that idea completely.
Practice is too serious for a place like this. This? This is where you come to relax.
The mini golf course sits on a perfectly kept patch of green. You line up your shot… then pause. Not because you’re calculating angles—but because your eyes drift. The water pulls you in. The hills stretch endlessly in the background, layered like a painting that refuses to sit still. Even the clouds seem to be in no hurry.
Good Mood Resort leans into that energy effortlessly. Just a short drive from Kigali, it feels like a cheat code—an easy escape that doesn’t demand planning or effort. You arrive, pass through the gate, and something shifts. The pace slows down. The air feels lighter.
You could be sitting by the water, watching ducks glide across the lake like they own the place. Or wandering through the gardens, where every corner feels like it was designed for doing absolutely nothing—and enjoying it. Or, like me, casually pretending to play golf while secretly just soaking it all in.
The game, the view, the laughter—it all settles into one easy memory. Nothing dramatic. Nothing over the top. Just a simple, light moment.
Back at the cabin now, the calm hasn’t left.
And maybe that’s what makes it special. You don’t come to Lake Muhazi to do the most. You come here to do less… and somehow, feel more.
