When I pressed the ignition button, the roar of the engine triggered an instant adrenaline rush. I twisted the throttle, and the jet ski surged forward, cutting across the water with thrilling speed. The ride was simply exhilarating.

I was sojourning at Ma Campagne Resort, located on the Rwamagana side of Lake Muhazi. Jet skiing is one of the many water sports available at the resort, and it is easily my favorite.

As a biker, jet skiing feels surprisingly familiar. There is the sudden acceleration, the wind rushing against the body, the explosive sound of the engine, and the excitement of controlling a powerful machine. Only this time, I had traded the tarmac for the waves.

Lake Muhazi stretched before me like a long ribbon of water sandwiched between green, rolling hills. Luxury resorts were sprouting up along the shoreline, alongside vacation homes, serene farms, and peaceful rural settlements.

The ride gave me the perfect combination of speed, adventure, and scenery. One moment, I was concentrating on controlling the jet ski as it bounced over the waves; the next, I was slowing down to admire the hills surrounding the lake. It was not simply a water-sporting activity. It was another exciting way of experiencing the beauty of Lake Muhazi.
