My memorable tour of Nyanza is coming to an end. I am about to hit the road and return to Kigali. Breakfast came a little late today, so lunch can wait—either in Kigali or wherever hunger decides to interrupt the ride. For now, I’m good. But not alert enough.
What's missing? There’s one ritual that can’t be skipped before any road trip: coffee.Today’s Coffee Break finds me at Kindi's Coffee, nestled right in the heart of town. Calling this a “break” might be misleading. I’m working—finalizing the layout of the booklet that captures my experiences in this remarkable district. reviewing notes, deleting redundant photos, and streamlining ideas, one sip at a time.
And honestly, there’s no better place in Nyanza to do this.
Kindi's Coffee is warm and welcoming in the most effortless way. It’s the kind of space that allows you to focus without feeling rushed, to work without feeling pressured. The coffee is fresh and refreshing—doing exactly what it’s supposed to do: keeping me sharp, steady, and ready for the journey ahead.
Between edits and pauses, I take brief moments to look around, soaking in the calm before the road. This is that in-between moment—after the exploration, before the drive. The kind of moment that doesn’t ask for much, just a good chair, a reliable cup of coffee, and a bit of time to process lasting memories.
Soon, the notebook will close, the camera will be packed away, and Kigali will be next. But for now, this is where I am—at Kindi's Coffee, reporting live from my final stop in Nyanza
