Today’s Coffee Break finds me at Go Yummy Restaurant, a cozy spot tucked within the premises of Ecoair Apartment Hotel, on 5 KG 676 Street in Kigali.

If you have been part of the Afrika Nzuri audience for a while, you probably know Ecoair already. Over the years, the establishment has quietly become a reliable supporter of our Turning Pages reading program. Since the program’s launch in 2021, a good number of our book club sessions have unfolded here—young readers gathered around tables, books open, conversations flowing as ideas leapt from page to page.

Now, Ecoair has added another piece to its offering with the introduction of Go Yummy Restaurant, a new space that seems set to elevate the experience for both guests and visitors.

From what I see, Go Yummy is shaping up to offer far more than a culinary stop. As I write this, workers are still putting the finishing touches on several exciting elements: a state-of-the-art coffee outlet, an art corner, an artistically designed dining space, and outdoor areas for events. The vision is clear—this is not just a place to eat, but a place to linger, connect, and even try your hand at painting.

Who knows? Maybe one day there will be a shelf displaying Afrika Nzuri’s collection—titles celebrating the beauty of Mama Africa, quietly waiting for curious readers between cups of coffee.

After running errands across Kigali for hours, I decided to drop by, partly to catch up on some work and partly to savor a good cup of coffee—because, after all, that is what coffee breaks are for. Although the restaurant has not yet been officially launched, the vibe is already inviting. There is a sense of anticipation in the air, the kind that accompanies a place just before it fully comes alive.

Sitting here with my coffee, laptop open and thoughts settling after a busy day, I realize something: some spaces reveal their character long before the ribbon is cut. Go Yummy feels like one of those places—calm, promising, and ready to become a new meeting point for good conversations, creative ideas, and, of course, fresh coffee.
